Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum Hosts “Technology Transfer in Jordan” Workshop

AMMAN – The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP) organized a workshop in collaboration with the Licensing Executives Society-Arab Countries (LES-AC) entitled “Technology Transfer in Jordan”, hosted by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF).

The workshop comes in line with instructions of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of ASIP and LES-AC, in keeping abreast with the latest technologies and knowledge as the foundation for wealth creation and generating national income of countries. 

Ms. Majd Khaddash, ASIP and LES-AC manager, inaugurated the workshop affirming that the workshop comes as part of the European Union’s “BITTCOIN-JO” funded project, to discuss the status of technology transfer in Jordan by experts who worked on previous projects to build and carry on their implementation. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Aljafari, executive director of Intellectual Property Commercialization Office, reviewed the status of technology transfer offices in Jordan based on previous projects in this domain, pointing to the important role such offices play and underlining the significance of introducing a well-defined structure for these entities. He also explained the possibility of benefiting from the outputs of these offices for the interest of universities and researchers alike as well as the national economy.  

During the workshop, participants reached out to a set of recommendations including the importance of determining the appropriate training subjects for beneficiaries from the BITTCOIN-JO project, preparing a networking plan between industries and universities to boost national industries. 

It is worth mentioning that ASIP was established in 1987 in Munich, Germany, to promote and develop Intellectual Property Right (IPRs) protection system through a set of various concepts of public awareness and the effective role of IP in globalization in addition to developing and identifying effective mechanisms to support IPRs worldwide using appropriate methods to find conformity among regional and global laws.
